BRAND EXECUTIVE

Ø  Hours Flexible (Intern/Volunteer) per week

If you are a good organiser, and would enjoy using your creative and communication skills to promote our services, this job could be ideal for you.

As a Brand Executive (marketing, Sales & Advertising executive), you would promote our products or services, or raise people's awareness a message.

You would need creativity to think of ways of communicating with customers, using methods including TV, radio and press advertising, direct mail, and corporate sponsorship of events.

To work in this job you would have to work well in a team, be confident when working to deadlines, and have good business sense. As a marketing executive you should have a degree or BTEC HNC/HND in marketing or another business-related subject. However, a degree is not always essential if you have business and marketing skills gained from previous jobs such as sales, customer service or public relations work.



The work

Your work would involve:

Ø  researching the market, consumer attitudes and competitors

Ø  coming up with ideas for marketing campaigns

Ø  arranging for advertisements to go into newspapers, magazines, the trade press, TV or radio

Ø  organising the production of posters, flyers and brochures

Ø  writing and distributing press releases and mailshots

Ø  maintaining a database of customers

Ø  arranging sponsorship

Ø  organising and attending events and exhibitions

Ø  making sure that all parts of a campaign run smoothly

Ø  reporting on the campaign’s progress to managers

Ø  networking with clients, suppliers and the media.


Hours

You would typically work standard office hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional extra hours at busy times such as the run-up to a campaign launch. You may also need to attend networking events in the evenings.

The work is mainly office-based, but you may also travel to meet clients and attend conferences, exhibitions and product launches.



Entry requirements

You could get into marketing with various levels of experience, but generally the more experience and skills you have, the higher up the career ladder you can start.

A degree or BTEC HNC/HND in marketing or another business-related subject is desired although not essential, but you may have an advantage with one of the following:

Ø  marketing (especially if the course included work placements)

Ø  communications

Ø  advertising

Ø  business and management

Ø  psychology.

If you have business and marketing skills gained from previous jobs such as sales, customer service or public relations work. You could also join AfIA’s marketing department as an administrator or assistant.

A professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) could be also a bonus.

MEDIA EXECUTIVE

(Public Relations Executive)

Ø  Hours: Flexible (Intern/Volunteer) per week

As a media executive, you would be responsible for handling the organisation’s image and reputation. If you like variety and challenge this job could be perfect for you.

To be in PR, you will need to have excellent communication skills. You’ll need to be good at managing your time. You’ll also need to be able to work with all kinds of clients.

We expect you to be qualified to degree level.



The work

You could work in-house public relations department, or you might be an account executive at a consultancy that looks after PR for a number of clients. Whatever you are and whoever you work for, your job could include:

Ø  planning PR campaigns and strategies

Ø  monitoring the public and media's perception of the organisation

Ø  writing and editing leaflets, brochures, press releases, speeches, newsletters and websites

Ø  arranging events like press launches, news conferences, exhibitions, open days and sponsorship

Ø  developing good working relationships with the media

Ø  arranging for advertising or promotional films to be produced

Ø  public speaking at presentations, conferences or radio and TV interviews

Ø  representing the organisation at events


Hours

You would normally work standard office hours, Monday to Friday. However, you may often also work some unsocial hours to go to PR events, meet deadlines or handle a crisis.

You would mainly be based at an office, but you would spend some of your time going out to meet clients and attend events.
