AfIAs are one of the most prestigious recognitions within the African nonprofits sector. The AfIA's have become a internationally-recognized honour, awarded to the most outstanding and compelling African philanthropic achievers by their peers and supporters. Beyond this recognition, the intrinsic value of the AfIAs lies in the opportunity for charitable organizations to tell their stories and spread awareness for their causes.
AfIA Awards Winners and Finalists have gone on to receive other prestigious national and international recognitions. One previous Finalists has received the White House “Champion of Change” and Trailblazer in American Diaspora Communities, and several have been recognized with various awards including the Commonwealth Youth Award, Green Apple Award and as CNN Heroes among others.

The attention given to AfIA Awards participants often drives increased donations to support their cause, resulting in expanded programs and services. In several cases, AfIA Awards Winners have gone on to expand their reach from a local, regional, national, to international level based on the recognition they've received.
AfIA Awards nominations are often
picked up by some of the top media sites in the respective
countries and around the globe. Every year AfIA Awards nominees are
expected to receive thousands in media impressions throughout the
eight-month process.
AfIA Awards process is a fantastic
way to galvanize volunteers and spread the word about the work
nonprofits do. As a result of the AfIAs, causes receive national
press recognition, connect with new communities of innovative
organizations, and created new partnerships. It is a powerful and
positive experience for all.
